Track the questions your buyers ask, and read every answer.

Last reviewed 2026-10-19

Prompts are the questions Virent asks AI engines every day for your brand. Each answer is kept in full, with the brands it names and the sources it cites.

Write good prompts#

A prompt is worth tracking when a buyer could ask it before choosing a product like yours. Good prompts read like real questions:

IntentExample
Best toolsWhat is the best invoicing software for freelancers?
ComparisonIs Brand A or Brand B better for small agencies?
AlternativesWhat are good alternatives to Brand A?
Use caseHow can a freelancer send invoices in several currencies?
CategoryWhich invoicing tools support recurring billing?

Avoid your brand name in most prompts: a question that names you will mention you. Track a few branded prompts separately if you want to see what assistants say about you.

Add prompts#

Open Prompt Monitoring:

  • Add prompt to write one.
  • Suggest prompts to get prompts drafted from your brand profile, competitors and current prompts. Review and edit each before tracking it.

Your plan sets how many prompts you can track (shown as "N of M tracked prompts"). If you have more than your plan includes, for example after a downgrade, every prompt keeps running but you can't add new ones until you upgrade or pause some.

Manage a prompt#

Open a prompt to see its mention rate, share of voice, position, the brands it mentions and the sources cited for it. From there:

Run this prompt#

Get one fresh answer now from the prompt's default model instead of waiting for the daily run. Costs one AI credit.

Pause monitoring#

Stop daily runs and keep the prompt's history. Paused prompts don't count toward your tracked-prompt limit. Resume monitoring starts them again.

Delete prompt#

Remove the prompt from monitoring.

Read an answer#

Open any answer from the prompt × model table:

SectionWhat it shows
Run statusCompleted, Collection in progress, Collection failed or Collection cancelled. A run without a completed answer is never counted as "not mentioned".
Brands in this answerYour brand and competitors the answer names, in order when there is one
Full answerThe complete text
Answer changesA comparison with an earlier answer from the same model and collection method
Retrieved sourcesThe pages the engine had available, and which ones it cited
Search queriesThe searches behind the answer, when the engine reports them
Collection contextMethod, provider, model, search mode and how URLs were normalized
Answer qualitySignals that the answer may be incomplete or unreliable

Compare answers only within the same model and method. A change in model or method is a different measurement, not a change in what the assistant thinks.

Content gaps#

Content Gaps lists the questions where answers mention competitors and not you, and keywords competitors share that you don't cover. Use it to decide which page to write or improve next. With Content Agent enabled, gaps appear as Content Agent opportunities instead.

Troubleshooting#

A prompt has no answers#

New prompts run in the next daily run, from 06:00 UTC. Use Run this prompt to check sooner.

My brand is never mentioned#

Check the brand's other names in Settings → Brand: the answer may use a name Virent doesn't know yet. New names apply to new answers only.

An answer changed overnight#

Open both answers and compare their sources, provider and model. Day-to-day variation is normal; act on trends.

I can't add prompts#

You are at your plan's tracked-prompt limit. Pause monitoring on prompts you no longer need, or change plan.
